Howard Hughes

Howard is as experienced as they come. With a radio journalism portfolio spanning over 20 years and starting at our very own sister station Howard has moved on to increasingly high profile roles, not least of which during his term with the Independent Radio News where he broke stories including the outbreak of the first Gulf War and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Since then he’s spent a decade working with Chris Tarrant on London’s Capital FM where his work on stories like the death of Princess Diana and 9/11 won him, and the breakfast team, many an award.

With what has been dubbed “the voice of news” Howard’s ideally suited to take hold of our Drivetime show here on City Talk and is clearly relishing the chance to get back on air in the city he’s long loved – and we’re very glad to have him

Michael believes the right thing will be done.

Howard Hughes talks to Michael Shields’ family solicitor John Weate about their battle in the High Court to prove that the Home Secretary Jack Straw does have the power to grant Michael a pardon.
